Hello everyone. Michelle here with a haunting blog post today. I am in love with this new All Hallows Eve line for Halloween. I put together a Haunted House made from a paper mache house that I picked up at Hobby Lobby (last year) for 50% off. What a bargain. Anyway, I am hoping that you love this line as much as I do.
I painted the house black and used strips of paper for the roof. I used my scallop cutting blade on my trimmer to make it look sort of shingle-like. You can see the scallops on the picture of the back of the house below.
The outside of the house are covered with different patterned papers as follows:
Front & Roof – Sharp Dressed Man (reverse side)
Sides – Arachnophobia (reverse side)
Back - Nevermore
I used vellum in the windows and used ghosts and the silhouette from the die cuts in the windows. That silhouette is creeeeepy!
I cut out chipboard shutters and painted them black. Then I used silver and copper paint to make them look old and weathered.
I drew and cut the tree and tombstones out of chipboard and covered the tombstones with more of the patterned papers and used a few of the stickers and die cuts to “adorn” the landscape. Then I added the spider webbing. I wanted to be able to lift the lid to get the glow stick or flashlight in and out. So I needed to be careful not to attach the roof to any part of the house or tree or webbing.
I used a green plastic dome shaped lid with a flashlight under it to achieve the green glow inside the house but I think a glow stick would work well. I was trying to work with what I had.
I can’t wait to set this out at Halloween as part of my decorations. But the best part is I have a friend who is ga ga over Halloween and I made one for her too. I am so excited to give it to her…just because!
Until next time,
Michelle
