Hi all! Renee from Scrap Owl back with a new layout today using the beautiful Moxxie Winery collection just released at CHA. Although my layout doesn't include any wine (a crime in itself), I loved using the vintage feel that the collection has to showcase the pictures of a recent visit to the American Picker's store in LaClaire, Iowa.
For the foundation of the layout I used the b-side of the Moxxie Winery Aged to Perfection patterned paper. Obviously we've all seen wooden slat paper before. It seems to be a scrapbooker's staple, but I love this take from Moxxie. It isn't a wooden floor pattern, instead it's the aged look of a wine barrel. The slats are closer together, darker, and more detailed with subtle scratches and imperfections. It made it easy to pull off the "nailed look" that I was going for with some of my tags.
In addition to the items from the new Moxxie Winery collection, I used a stitched pattern from the Moxxie Brown Element Rub-On. I love how quickly I could add a stitched element to my layout - especially given that I can't sew for the life of me. I even put the stitching on a little crooked because I knew that if I had really done the stitching, it would have a least been a little cock-eyed!
For my tags I used a punch to quickly cut out a few tag shapes from the Moxxie Winery Fine Wine and Winery Cutouts patterned papers. From there I attached the swirls from the Moxxie Winery Stickers and outlined them with a thin black marker to make sure they didn't get lost on the background. The "Family" pennant and the stickers that create my "Tour" cluster are also from the Moxxie Winery Stickers sheet.
Like I said, even thought my layout doesn't include wine, the Moxxie Winery collection had the perfect tools to accent this pictures from this trip. It was so fun to see so many of the items that I had watched the Pickers buy on their show, and now I have this layout to help me remember the visit. I just love scrapping!
Stay Scrappy My Friends,
